Karen & Patrick
Sjömansro, Finland
August 2015
This is going to be a long one but I think you'll like it.
2015 gave me the wonderful opportunity to shoot a multicultural international wedding in Finland. Patrick and Karen's intimate Finnish-Chinese wedding was held in Sjomansrö ("Sherman's Row"), a World War II retreat for sailors tired of the war. Karen is Chinese and Patrick is Finnish. They met on an online dating forum and fell in love with each other. They decided to get married in the beautiful Finnish summer and I'm glad they picked me to capture their big day.
Before I get to the wedding, I would like to show you some images I shot when they whisked me away to pluck berries the day I set foot in Helsinki followed by photos from their couple shoot.

Over the next few days, I got to visit beautiful places in and around Helsinki along with the couple and although the sky was mostly overcast, we managed to get some good ones. Even Patrick's family managed to join us on one such outing.
There was a forecast for rain on the wedding day but it turned out to be a dud. The beautiful sun was out in all its glory and everything looked so beautifully well-lit. It was a small gathering of 38 guests and the wedding was solemnised by the beach right next to a big old tree right from the WW2 era.
I'll let the photos tell the story.
We returned to Helsinki after the wedding and the day before I was to fly back to India, they decided to take me on a joyride at the local aerodrome. It was a fitting final to this wonderful wedding in Finland. :)
As always, do comment and share your love. :)
